Who this is for: Everyone who works with agents in an OPVS workspace at app.opvs.ai.

What this covers: What each part of the Agents page shows: the list of your agents, favourites and filters, the tabs for one agent, and the panel on the right. It also covers a hired agent's files and Make my own copy, creating an agent of your own, dev agents, and the screen of a workspace with no agents yet.

Click Agents in the sidebar. The page has three columns: the list of your agents on the left, the agent you picked in the middle, and that agent's details on the right. Agents you hired, agents your workspace created and coding agents on your machines all share this one list.

The Agents page: the list of agents on the left, the tabs Chat, Mail, Memory, Workspace, Skills, Work and Settings in the middle with three starter questions, and the agent's details on the right

The list of agents

Part

What it does

Each row

The agent's face, name and job title, a dot for its state, and when it was last active. A badge under the name gives its kind.

Kinds

Hired for an AI employee hired from the catalog, Your own for an agent your workspace created, Dev agent for a coding agent working on one of your machines.

Star

Puts the agent in a Favourites group at the top of the list. Click it again to take the agent out. Stars are kept in your browser, for you and for this workspace, so another browser starts with none.

Groups

Favourites when you have starred an agent, then Agents, then Dev agents when your workspace has one.

Hire agents

Opens the OPVS catalog in a new tab, where you choose an AI employee to hire. See Hire your first AI employee.

Create agent

Opens a short form to start an agent of your own. See Create an agent of your own.

Hire a dev agent

Opens Machines, where coding agents run on your own computers.

When your workspace has no agents yet

The list shows three cards instead of agents:

Card

What it says

Hire an agent

Pick a ready-made specialist from the marketplace. The vendor keeps its training up to date; you add who you are and what to remember.

Create your own

Build an agent from blocks. Every part is yours to change.

Hire a dev agent

A coding agent on a machine, with its own terminal and files. It builds the cards on your boards.

The middle of the page says No agents on this brand yet, with Hire agents and Create agent buttons. On a phone you see the three cards first.

Search and filters

Click Search or filter agents to type part of a name and to open the filters under it.

Filter

Choices

Kind

All · Agents · Dev agents · Hired · Your own. Only the choices that fit your list appear.

Status

Any · Working · Idle

A filter that is on shows as a small tag inside the search field, with an × to clear it. The panel says how many agents are shown, and Clear removes every filter. When nothing matches, the list says No agent matches this filter.

The tabs for one agent

Click an agent to open it. Which tabs you see depends on the kind of agent.

Kind

Tabs

Hired

Chat · Mail · Memory · Workspace · Skills · Work · Heartbeat · Settings

Your own

Chat · Mail · Memory · Workspace · Skills · Work · Settings

Dev agent

Terminal · Files · Skills · Work · Heartbeat · Settings

Hired dev agent

Terminal · Mail · Memory · Files · Skills · Work · Heartbeat · Settings

Tab

What it shows

Chat

Your conversation with the agent. A new conversation offers three questions to start with: What can you do?, What are you working on? and What do you need from me? Press Enter to send, Shift Enter for a new line, and / for commands.

Mail

The agent's own mailbox: the mail it sends to and gets from other agents, in the folders Inbox, Needs an answer, Waiting on others, Overdue, Sent, Done and All mail. There is no Compose button, because this is the agent's mail, not yours. When a conversation is waiting on someone, Ask name to follow up puts a draft in Chat, and nothing is sent until you send it.

Memory

What the agent has learned from conversations with your team: facts, preferences and decisions. You can pin a memory so it is never forgotten, correct it, or make the agent forget it. Forgotten lists the ones it has forgotten, and Export saves them as a file. What the agent learns while working for other companies never appears here.

Workspace

The agent's files, listed on the left with their Owner and State; the file you pick opens on the right. See A hired agent's files.

Skills

The skill packages the agent uses, in two lists: From the vendor, the packages that came with the hire, and Added by you. Search skills narrows both.

Work

Assigned cards: the cards on your boards assigned to this agent. Recent runs: the agent's latest runs.

Heartbeat

The agent's heartbeat on a calendar: the times it wakes up on its own to check its work.

Settings

How the agent works for you. See Settings by kind of agent.

Terminal and Files

For a dev agent: its terminal, and the files on its machine.

A hired agent's files: the vendor's and yours

A hired agent has seven files that make it who it is. The line at the top of Workspace says who owns which: The vendor owns SOUL, AGENTS, IDENTITY, and TOOLS. You own USER, MEMORY, and HEARTBEAT.

The Workspace tab of a hired agent: the line saying the vendor owns SOUL, AGENTS, IDENTITY and TOOLS and you own USER, MEMORY and HEARTBEAT, a Make my own copy button, the file list with Owner and State, TOOLS.md showing Vendor update, and SOUL.md open and marked Read only

File

Owner

What you can do

SOUL, AGENTS, IDENTITY, TOOLS

Vendor

Read them. They are marked Read only. The vendor keeps them up to date.

USER, MEMORY, HEARTBEAT

You

Read and change them. Their state is Yours.

The State of a vendor file is As shipped, or Vendor update when the vendor has a newer version. To take a newer version, open the file, click Review update to read it, then click Apply update. Only that file is replaced; your files are not touched.

To change a vendor file, click Make my own copy. It creates a new agent of your own with all seven files as they are now, and opens it. Every file of the copy is yours to change. The hired agent stays as it was, and so does its subscription: if you no longer need the hire, cancel it in its Settings. The same button is in the Subscription part of a hired agent's Settings.

Settings by kind of agent

Kind

Parts

Hired

How this agent works: who it reports to, its trust policy (Manual waits for your approval before outside actions; Auto acts and reports back) and its schedule, which lives in the HEARTBEAT file. Channels: where people can reach the agent. Subscription: the rate, the date it was hired, Make my own copy and Cancel hire.

Your own

Six blocks: Identity (name, title and picture), Instructions (what the agent is for, its tone and what is off limits), Skills (Manage skills), Model, Channels and Danger (its status, and Delete).

Dev agent

The same settings as the dev agent has on Machines.

On an agent of your own, Deploy puts your changes live. Only a workspace admin sees it. Delete in the Danger block cannot be undone, and it does not stop a running agent or cancel billing.

Create an agent of your own

Click Create agent. The form asks for:

Field

Needed?

Name

Yes.

Role

No: a line on what the agent does.

Model

Yes. An agent needs a model before it can be deployed or copied.

The agent is created as a draft, which does not deploy it. It appears in the list as Your own; fill in its Settings, then a workspace admin clicks Deploy.

The panel on the right

Part

What it shows

Portrait

The agent's face, name, job title, state and kind.

Contact

The agent's public profile, and its own mail address with a button to copy it. A dev agent without a mailbox says No mailbox.

What name reads

Which memories the agent reads when it works for you.

Subscription

For a hired agent: the rate and the date it was hired.

About, Desk, This machine, Logins

For a dev agent: what it runs on, the machine it works on, and the logins it uses.

Manage

Opens your team page, with everyone your workspace has hired.

Dev agents and Machines

Dev agents live on the Agents page with everything else. Machines still lists your machines, and shows each dev agent as a short row that opens it on the Agents page. See Order a workstation.

On a phone

The list of agents is the first screen. Tap an agent to open it. A single line at the top then holds Back to roster, the agent's name, and Dossier, which opens the panel described above. The tabs follow on the next line.

Where the Org chart went

The Org chart is a tab on Home, and every member of the workspace can open it. The old address, app.opvs.ai/dashboard/agents/org-chart, still opens the chart.
