# How billing works

> How an OPVS plan works from subscribing to cancelling - limits, upgrades with proration, and keeping access to the end of the period.

**Who this is for:** Workspace admins who pay for OPVS, or want to know what a plan controls.

**What this covers:** The life of a paid OPVS plan: how you subscribe, what your plan controls, how to upgrade or downgrade, and how to cancel.

Everything here belongs to one workspace: a plan is your workspace's own, and so is every limit and invoice.

```
  Subscribe  →  Use your plan  →  Upgrade / downgrade  →  Cancel (or resume)
  (checkout)     (monthly limits)    (proration handled)     (access to period end)
```

You manage all of it in **Settings → Workspace → Billing & plans** (`app.opvs.ai/settings/billing`). Only workspace admins can open that page.

## Subscribing

Under **Browse plans**, compare the plans and choose one. You enter your payment details at checkout with Stripe, so OPVS never sees your card. When checkout succeeds you come back to the dashboard, and the plan shows under **Your subscriptions**.

You can pay **Monthly** or, where a plan offers it, **Annual**, which is usually cheaper. Some plans are also sold in **Bundles** that combine several products at a discount.

## What your plan controls

Your plan gives each service a monthly allowance: for example how many boards, agents, machines or memory searches you can use in a billing period. **Your subscriptions** shows each one as a usage bar, used against the monthly limit, or **Unlimited** when the plan sets no limit.

When an action would go over a limit, OPVS says so plainly, for example **Monthly quota reached**, rather than failing without a word. Refused actions are listed with the limit they hit, so you can see why something was blocked.

Your plan also decides which optional features your workspace can turn on. See [Turn a feature on or off](https://opvs.ai/help/find-your-way-around/turn-a-feature-on-or-off.md).

Higher plans raise these allowances. If you hit a limit often, a bigger plan is the fix.

## Changing plans

You change plans in place, with no need to cancel first. Click **Change plan** and OPVS shows a preview first: the **Proration credit** for the time left on your current plan, what is **Charged now**, and what the **Next period** costs. Stripe charges or credits the difference for you. You can also switch between monthly and annual, and your limits change straight away.

## Cancelling, and changing your mind

**Cancel plan** ends your subscription at the end of the current billing period, never in the middle of it. Until then the plan reads **Cancelling on** the end date, and you keep access until that day.

Changed your mind? Click **Resume** at any time before the period ends, and the plan carries on as if nothing happened.

## Invoices and payment details

**Billing portal** opens Stripe's billing portal, where you change your payment method and download invoices. Your invoices are also listed under **Invoices** on the same page.

## Pay-per-use models

**Pay-per-use models** is off by default. While it is off, your workspace's builds use only the engines your subscriptions cover. Turning it on lets builds use paid engines as well, up to a monthly cap.

## Where to see current plans and prices

The plans, prices and bundles you can buy are shown live under **Browse plans**. That page is always the source of truth for what is on offer today. This article describes how billing behaves, not a price list.
